Berikut hasil perbincangannya :

Can you tell me a bit about your background. I mean what got you interest playing guitar, stuff like that….
”Well to be honest I got a guitar one christmas, and played a little, but I went to see Korn and Staind with a couple friends, and I knew that night I wanted to play guitar for a living”.

I see that you join the band replacing Rick james. How do you adjust with the band?
“Well, he was long out of the band when I joined and I melded with them well, wrote music they liked, and I was able to play everything they had written before I joined the band, which, wasn’t much but it was a few songs. And since the first record came out and I proved I wanted to take this band as far as it would go I have been considered an “original member” of sorts.”

How’s the song writing process in Carnifex ? because i notice that Shawn wrote the songs too, unusual job for drummer…
“Well anyone who has a melody idea or knows how to write riffs writes. And Shawn writes some riffs and does a lot of arranging, and he uses Q base to record our pre production stuff.”

I see on some of the pictures, you use ibanez 7 string RG fix & 7 string S. Which one is your main axe ? and why is that ?
“Well my main one usually is the S cause we were endorsed as using that model and we are endorsed by Seymour Duncan and we have those in our S 7′s so I usually use that one, but I like the RG better, and this next year we will have the new RGD 7′s”

What is your string gauge ? and how do you tune it ?
“we use a light-medium .010-.046 and we get a custom .070 for our low 7 string. and we do (from low to high)A,E,A,D,G,B,E Drop “A”...”

What is your live setup? (amps, effects, etc)
“Well at home I just run a simple Peavey 6505+ and run that through a KORG rack tuner and an NS-2 all in a road case.”

I must say that you guys did a great job playing Slayer’s Angel of Death. Whose idea is that? that’s something different, listening Slayer’s song with death growl and guitar dropped more than half step, thicker gauge too.. :D
“Umm well, Our guy at Victory said we should do a cover song, and Scott said he wanted to do that song so, and it was. So we got tabs, and tuned our guitars to A standard(like beneath the massacre) and played the song the way they do, except when the first break comes, we switch from playing the song in D standard to A standard, and so the rest of the song was heavier, and I liked that. and I had the idea, in studio to do the breakdown thing we did. and everyone was stoked on it. And as a treat since our buddy loves Slayer enoughto know their solos and stuff we had Spencer from Embrace The End come in and help us out with that, and he nailed it.”
